Okay, so the in-game XMB didn't come with the last update, but it remains confirmed for firmware update 2.40. And while we still don't know exactly when it might arrive - we're still guessing early next month - we may know what the flashy new XMB will feature.
According to PS3Fanboy, the following list of options will present themselves after you've downloaded the new in-game XMB. If there's one feature the PlayStation 3 absolutely needs, it's this one. Check out the rumored features:
* Friend category
* View, send, receive messages
* Manage downloads
* Set the vibration feature of the controller
* Sign in to PlayStation Network
* Register friends
* Manage Bluetooth devices
* Terminate the game
* Music category
* Use the system BGM
* Work the system BGM operation panel
* Settings category
* Assign controllers
* View profiles
* Game category
* Set audio devices
* Use the voice changer
Well, that's a hefty list, isn't it? My game-playing experience on the PS3 will instantly come complete with many more alternatives, and that's nothing but good news.
